Neonicotinoids en route to being banned across the EU

The UK finally on board with EU plans to ban neonicotinoids outside of greenhouses, yes!! “The weight of evidence now shows the risks neonicotinoids pose to our environment, particularly to the bees and other pollinators which play such a key part in our £100bn food industry, is greater than previously understood,” said Gove. “I believe this justifies further restrictions on their use. We cannot afford to put our pollinator populations at risk.” Guardian, 09.10.2017

L'hiver commence à s'installer, avec les températures en chute après un bel automne! J'espère que vous avez pu semer vos seedball avant qu'il fasse trop froid.  Je pense que nous allons avoir un beau tapis de coquelicots dans une partie de mon jardin :) et je compte voir des pousses du mélange papillon que j'ai semé en Mai de cette année...  Si vous n'avez pas eu de résultats spectaculaires, je vous invite à avoir un peu de patience: ces bombes protègent les graines et elle feront surface à temps voulu, à moins qu'elles aient moisi à cause d'une surabondance d'eau....

Pollinating periods?

We are all aware that bees only appear at the beginning of spring, but did you know that the bees' have differing flight periods depending on their species? Some wild bees only fly for 6 weeks in the year! So it's crucial to them that they can find the nectar they need to survive the rest of the year. This another factor contributing to the bee decline: That bees no longer find enough nectar to survive the winter months. Our job should be to provide as much diversity as possible in our gardens and make them as bee or pollinator-friendly...

Hello to all and thank you for visiting our page! We are freshly returned from the Jardins en fête garden show in Coppet, where we launched the Seedball product in Switzerland, yeay!! Switzerland has lost 90% of its wildflower meadows over the past 60 years due to urbanisation, pollution, the expansion of agriculture into larger scale farming and this is having a huge impact on wildlife and notably our pollinating friends (who we need!!). I was very excited to hold a raffle in which many participated, and I have a WINNER who will be receiving a set of three seedball tins...
